What is Biological Medicine?
Conventional medicine asks: what is the diagnosis? Biological Medicine starts with a different question. Biological Medicine asks: why has this person become ill – and what does the body need to heal itself?
This distinction shapes everything we do at Paracelsus.
The Inner Milieu
At the core of Biological Medicine is the concept of the inner milieu – the biological environment in which your cells, organs and immune system operate. When this environment is healthy and balanced, the body can regulate, repair and defend itself. When it is disrupted – by toxins, nutritional deficiencies, chronic infections, dental foci or emotional stress – disease follows.
Biological Medicine does not suppress symptoms. It restores the conditions under which the body can heal.
What This Means in Practice
Rather than treating a diagnosis, we treat the whole person. We consider physical, mental, emotional and dental health as interconnected – because they are. A hidden dental focus can perpetuate a chronic infection. A disrupted gut microbiome can drive an autoimmune response. These connections are rarely explored in conventional medicine. At Paracelsus, they are central to our diagnostic and therapeutic work.
When Biological Medicine is Most Effective
Biological Medicine has proven particularly effective for:
- Chronic diseases where conventional treatment has reached its limits
- Conditions where the underlying cause has not been identified
- Patients seeking a holistic, root-cause approach to their health
- Prevention and active aging
We also recognize that Biological Medicine and conventional medicine are not mutually exclusive. For many conditions – particularly cancer – working in conjunction with conventional treatment can enhance outcomes for both.
